Tea culture often carries a stereotype image, but the Iridescent design aims to break free from these preconceptions. By combining eastern and western art, lifestyle, and culture, this design presents a captivating visual experience that captures the essence of tea tasting.
One of the key strengths of the Iridescent design lies in its use of different materials to create a play of lights and shadows. The project utilizes ink brush strokes with vivid colors, representing the taste of Taiwanese tea. The strength of the brush strokes and the color of the ink evoke the rich flavors and aromas that tea enthusiasts appreciate.
Furthermore, the Iridescent design incorporates shimmering film and holographic elements, adding a touch of magic and enchantment to the packaging. These materials not only represent the actual lights but also create an iridescent effect that captures the attention and curiosity of the viewer.
The realization of the Iridescent design involves a meticulous combination of various printing methods and materials. The fusion of ink brush strokes, vibrant colors, and shimmering film results in a visually stunning packaging that reflects the artistry and craftsmanship of Taiwanese tea.
Chieh Yu Chiang (Bonny Chiang) and the art direction team circore .Co.,Ltd. worked tirelessly to overcome creative, technical, and research challenges during the development of the Iridescent design. Through numerous experiments and iterations, they successfully achieved the desired effect of actual lights and shadows, ensuring that the design truly captures the essence of tea tasting.
The Iridescent design made its debut at the Taipei Food Expo in June 2019, captivating visitors with its unique blend of art, culture, and innovation. Since then, it has garnered recognition and acclaim, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to the improvement of quality of life.
The Iridescent design by Chieh Yu Chiang (Bonny Chiang) redefines tea culture through its innovative approach, inviting tea enthusiasts and newcomers alike to experience the beauty and artistry of Taiwanese tea in a whole new light.
